Industrious Woodpecker

March 22, 2016  •  Leave a Comment

Sapsuckers drill holes in trees in order to trap insects in the sap their work produces. Other species of woodpeckers glean bugs from trees or, in case of the Northern Flicker, from the ground. Fact is, woodpeckers are industrious birds who will acquire food depending on seasonal need. Our suet feeder regularly attract Down Woodpeckers, but leave the seed-feeders to the Finches. That is until now.
